How do I generate cell phone ring tones from my audio recordings?

Many cell phones can import standard MIDI files, such as those created by intelliScore, for use as ring tones. Other phones require a different format, such as RTTTL. In this case, you can use one of the many available shareware programs to convert MIDI to RTTTL and transfer the ring tone to your cell phone. Please note that cell phones are limited in terms or polyphony and pitch range, so be sure your source audio is within these limits. For example, if your cell phone is compatible with only monophonic ring tones, you might want to sing in the melody to intelliScore rather than use a multiple instrument recording.
