Hz

Hertz is a measure of frequency.  A Sample Rate of 11025 Hz, for example, means that the waveform is measured 11025 times per second.  Hertz is also used to indicate the pitch of a note.  For example, the note A3 typically has a frequency of 440 Hz, or 440 cycles per second in its waveform.  Higher notes have higher frequencies.
