Sample Rate
The number of waveform values measured per second. At a sample rate of 11025 Hz, a measurement of the level of a waveform is taken 11025 times each second when creating an audio file. The higher the sample rate, the more accurately the waveform will be converted from its natural analog form to the digital form required by computers because it has a higher frequency response. Incidentally, a sample rate of 44100 Hz is used when recording an audio CD.
